Impact of the Lead-Free Mandate

In 2011, Congress passed an EPA-endorsed Bill to reduce the federal standard for lead content in drinkable water systems from 8% to 0.25%, via the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).  The new lead-free mandate is set to go into effect January 4, 2014 (April 1, 2014 in the state of Washington) and will represent a dramatic change in the way domestic plumbing is purchased and built.  This UMC white paper includes key strategies for planning and building future plumbing projects.
