Senior DDC Controls Engineer

Job Description:

Design and engineer DDC systems including hardware, software and programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents. Provide project management on projects as required, interfacing\collaborating directly with UMC design build engineering team and account executives. Contract and supervise sub-contractors and suppliers.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

  • Design control systems.
  • Perform control programming and graphic development.
  • Manage the startup of control and HVAC systems.
  • Manage the commissioning of control and HVAC systems.
  • Manage technicians and subcontractors when needed.
  • Record and update drawings and software modifications.
  • Engineer field changes and maintain as-build documentation.
  • Develop and conduct owner training.
  • Provide project management tasks (job plans, labor planning/scheduling, fiscal analysis, etc.).
  • Coordinate ordering of materials.
  • Manage third party Integration coordination and execution.
  • Complete control projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Develop and conduct owner training.

  • Programming skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service and client relationship skills.
  • Experience with electronics and basic electrical circuits.
  • Knowledge of DDC Control theory and applications.
  • Ability to interface with UMC sales team, operations team and clients at the C level, D level, building engineers and property managers.
  • ACAD\Visio skills.
  • In- depth knowledge of building systems including DDC control systems (BACnet preferred).

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, construction management, mechanical engineering or sustainable building science (preferred).
  • Experience with large high-rise buildings (1 million SF and larger).
  • Computer programming experience.
  • HVAC and/or Mechanical system experience.
  • Tridium\Niagara.
  • Distech (preferred).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Potentially supervise other Senior DDC Controls Engineers and Field Technicians.
