UMC is proud to announce that Camilla Yamada, MS, CHFM, CHC has been named line-of-business director in the Special Projects Group (SPG).
Yamada’s new role leading SPG emphasizes UMC’s commitment to the healthcare community throughout the Pacific Northwest. She will remain the lead healthcare Subject Matter Expert (SME) across all UMC lines of business, including Major Projects, Facility Services, Energy and Environment, and more. Serving customers within the healthcare, energy, life sciences, and wastewater market sectors provides a strong forecast for future growth that aligns with the company’s mission to solve complex problems. Her focus in SPG will help UMC prioritize its strategic imperatives in a group that requires both the ability to stay nimble to best serve UMC’s community partnerships and a strong commitment to continuous improvement, hallmarks of the healthcare sector.
UMC’s SPG has grown in both size and scope over the last few years to better serve its clients. These changes highlighted the need for a strong leader to represent UMC to the community and further catalyze the remarkable talent that SPG brings to every project.

Yamada brings 20 years of direct management experience including 12 years working for healthcare organizations on both the operations and capital construction sides. Maintaining her Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Healthcare Contractor (CHC), Building Operator Certification (BOC L1 & L2) as well as her service as board member to the Washington State Society for Healthcare Engineering (WSSHE), service on the Membership Committee for the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Yamada is a lifelong learner and firm believer that education is the one thing that can never be taken away.
Yamada is succeeding Joel Perez, who has transitioned into the new role as a Preconstruction Project Manager focused on Supporting SPG with project development and widening UMC’s sales funnel. In his 8 years leading SPG, he delivered year over year revenue growth while increasing UMC’s position in the marketplace as a go to provider of mechanical design and installation solutions.
Yamada is proud to become the UMC’s first female line-of-business director.
