Matthew Zambon recently joined UMC’s Major Projects Group as a Project Engineer. In his role, his goal is to have all projects completed efficiently and safely, grow his management skills, and learn the ins and outs of the trade.
Zambon recently graduated from Michigan Technical University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He grew up racing and working on motorcycles at his family mechanic shop, which is where his mechanical mindset began to develop. During his college career, Zambon held sought-after internships and a co-op for various companies where he was introduced to the construction industry. He started in the industry as a foreman building anything and everything, from the retaining walls around a property to constructing a garage from pouring the foundation to the last roof tile. Zambon went on to gain professional engineering experience at both Mercury Marine and Trimble, inc. where he was introduced to all sides of engineering from inception to production. His diverse experience brings a fresh perspective and increased communication to the team.
Outside of work, Zambon and his wife spend their time thriving in the outdoors. On the rare occasion they choose to stay indoors, you can find him building something or tapping into his Italian roots by cooking up some delicious pizzas.
