UMC's Response to COVID-19

Steve Brooks, PE

President

19 March 2020

Due to recent events involving COVID-19, we want to assure you that UMC has a thorough and comprehensive business continuity plan in place to protect our employees, customers, and business. UMC is committed to helping you, our customers, through these uncertain times and assuring that your business is affected as little as possible from this situation.

WHAT WE’RE DOING
Our leadership team is our business continuity team and we are meeting daily to ensure the timely and appropriate sharing of information based on verified data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the U.S, as well as state and local government.

Despite the market disruptions caused by the COVID-19, UMC is committed to maintaining our business operations and ensuring our customers continue to receive the highest quality construction services, facility operations, and maintenance as well as repairs.

HOW WE CAN HELP
Many clients have inquired about ways to limit the spread of viruses by utilizing HVAC systems. Continuing preventive maintenance, along with pressure control and optimizing outside air and humidity control are a few solutions that ASHRAE recommends for this situation. Please let us know if you have any questions on how we can help you address your specific system.

As this is a financially hard time for many, we have developed effective but low-cost services to help you maintain your facility as employees begin to return to work. If you have specialized needs, such as healthcare facilities, we have a dedicated team with expertise in infectious control and operating critical facility systems in emergency situations.

WHO TO CONTACT
For any questions or concerns or to learn how UMC can be of assistance during this challenging time, please contact:

  • Bob Frey, Director of Sales Operations at (206) 423-7507 or bfrey@umci.com
  • Steve Brooks, Vice President of Business Development at (206) 228-2303 or sbrooks@umci.com

If you have concerns about a UMC account executive visiting your facilities, please contact your representative. We have asked our account executives to call in advance of any meeting. Our project managers, account managers, and technicians are prepared to collaborate remotely and conduct virtual meetings effectively through a variety of applications such as email, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, etc.

Our technicians are trained in precautionary measures needed to eliminate the spread of viruses. If you choose not to have one of our technicians visit, please call our dispatch center at (206) 364-9910 to discuss your needs.

The health and safety of our customers, partners, and employees is our top priority and we will continue to monitor the progression of COVID-19 and will adjust plans based on new information.

Thank you all for your partnership and trust in us. UMC is here to help.
