Bangor B6400 Chiller Plant

The extremely tight temperature and humidity tolerances of  naval equipment calibration labs require cooling 24 hours a day. Chiller plants serving these systems must often operate  at a low percentage of the design chiller’s operating capacity. Depending upon the plant design and the type of cooling equipment installed, this can result in poor cooling system operating efficiencies.  That was the situation at Naval Base Kitsap when a decision was made to upgrade the plant with a new, efficient design. A joint effort led by the Bonneville Power Administration, NAVFAC, and UMC Energy Services developed a solution to perform a custom retrofit for the entire chiller plant.
