Block 14

Block 14 development includes a 37-story office tower (1,00,467 GSF) with street level retail, a 1,650 seat auditorium/meeting facility, six levels (472,178 GSF) of underground parking to accommodate 1,080 automobiles, 24,000 GSF full service kitchen/cafeteria located above the auditorium, and an open space between the office tower and meeting facility. UMC designed (collaborating with WSP) and built the central plant, integrating a neighboring data center’s heat exchanger/piping system with Block 14 heat recovery chillers and district energy distribution loop. The district energy system boasts a phenomenal central plant comprised of heat recovery chillers, and cooling towers to pumps, intricate piping systems, and controls – all of which play a key role orchestrating the push and pull of heat between the buildings.
