MultiCare Covington Hospital provides comprehensive health for the growing community. In 2017, the hospital crossed the finish line of a complex expansion on a four-story building connected to the emergency department for easy access to critical care. The building includes 58 medical surgery beds, three operating rooms, a pharmacy, lab space, a 10-bed family birth center with waiting rooms, and a reflection room for privacy.

The hospital was fully operational during the expansion and required careful planning with precise communication to ensure minimal impact was made on the patients and staff during construction. In addition to HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) and plumbing, UMC’s scope of work on the expansion included an extensive medical gas system and proactive infection control.
